Mt Pleasant Fence Staining
Last week we stained this fence for a customer in Mt Pleasant SC, and I must say that it came out looking great. The fence was new rough cut lumber that had not been stained previously.

Steps Taken Prior To Staining
The first thing we did was clean the fence to remove any dirt, leaves, mold, and mildew. Next, we sanded any splinted edges and excessively rough spots. We then trenched around the bottom on both sides of the fence to ensure our stain would be applied to the very bottom of every picket.
The Staining Process
To apply the stain we used a 9inch roller and a brush. First, we rolled one section of the fence then used the brush to fill in any areas the roller could not reach. The next step was to completely back brush the entire fence to work the stain in into the wood and to make sure the edges of the pickets were coated. When applying stain in this manner it is very important to work quickly. If the stain is dry prior to back brushing then you will get lap marks which will leave an uneven finish.

Materials Used on the Project

- 3inch Coroda Excalibur chinex brush
- Sherwin Williams Woodscapes Semi-Transparent Oil Stain tinted to Cedar Tone
