Charleston South Carolina House Painting

Paragon Painting was contracted to paint the exterior of a Charleston SC home last week. Despite battling the weather this older ranch styled house went through an amazing paint transformation and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

Always Wash Before You Paint!

The first step to painting any exterior surface in Charleston, South Carolina is to properly pressure wash the surface. This house had a good amount of dirt, mold, and mildew on the surface. We applied a mixture of bleach, TSP, and Simple Green to kill all the mold and mildew. We then pressure washed the house while protecting the landscaping.

Prep Work is a Must! 

Much of the Texture 1-11 was peeling and in need of scraping as was the soffit and fascia. We first covered the ground and shrubbery with 10 mil plastic and scraped all the loose paint. Every open gap was caulked and small holes were filled with putty. Any paint chips that may have fallen past the plastic was then sucked up with a HEPA vacuum and properly disposed of.

Once all the loose paint was scraped we then primed the surface with XIM PeelBond. PeelBond a super thick primer that fills any voids and helps lock down the surface before new paint is applied. It goes on a milky white color which then dries clear, it’s one of the best exterior primers on the market to date.

Time For The Fun Part… Paint!

  Now that the house is nice and clean with zero peeling paint the transformation can begin. We brushed and rolled two coats of Sherwin Williams SuperPaint Satin to the siding, shutters, doors, and trim.
