This week we finished painting a kitchen in Summerville SC which turned out wonderfully.
The Prep is the Most Important Step
This kitchen had popcorn ceilings which had to be removed first. After removing the popcorn and cleaning up the mess we then sanded the ceiling to make sure all the popcorn residue was removed. Next, we spackled all the imperfections, cracks, and nail pops in both the ceilings and the walls. Once everything had two coats of spackle was sanded and spot primed the repair spots. Caulk was then applied to the entire perimeter of the ceiling and any open gaps between the walls and trim.
Time for Paint!
Much like in math painting requires you to follow an order of operations. Before painting the walls all the trim work and ceilings get painted first. We applied two coats of semi-gloss paint to the trim and two coats of flat paint to the ceiling. Once the ceilings and trim were done it was time to put some color on the walls! We used an eggshell finish to give the walls some wash-ability, being that it’s a kitchen wash-ability is a must.
