Painting Faded Shutters

August 24, 2013 | By | 1 Comment

Here in Charleston South Carolina, the sun can be brutal on our houses, especially in the summer months. Vinyl shutters seem to take the brunt of the abuse and tend to fade rather quickly. When they fade it can severely hurt your home’s curb appeal. Don’t worry tho, the solution is an easy one and it’ll double your curb appeal in a day.

Faded Shutters in Charleston SC

Paint Those Faded Shutters!

Painting the shutters is the easiest and most cost efficient solution. We use fade resistant paint with a little sheen to help reflect the suns rays. Shutters that have been painted can hold up against fading twice as long as the stock vinyl color.

The Process

The first thing we do is hand clean the shutters to remove any dirt, mold, mildew, and oxidation. Next, we add a little Emulsa-bond to the paint which will help it adhere to chalky surfaces. Next, we top coat without Emulsa-bond. To complete the transformation now is a good time to put a fresh coat of paint on the front door and jam which also take a lot of abuse.

Interested in getting a quote for some front shutters that need to be repainted and a small Arch area over my second-floor bathroom window that seems to have rust that cause the paint to come off after pressure washing
